A Washington State approved Kindergarten-6th grade
arts integrated elementary school.

The Robert Williams School of Arts & Sciences seeks to develop students who possess both fundamental arts and academic knowledge in addition to 21st century skills, including personal and social responsibility, critical thinking and reasoning, as well as communication and interpersonal skills.
RWSAS’s teaching philosophy combines strategies proven to benefit children and improve learning, including learning by doing, artful thinking, and excellence in teaching.
RWSAS is approved by Office of the Superintendent for Public Instruction.(OSPI) and, as such, the curriculum is aligned with the common core and the Washington State Standards.
We believe that students thrive in a learning environment in which multiple pathways are available for students to develop creativity, expression and inquiry.
We value equity, inclusion and diversity. All learners are welcome and believe in the transformative power of an art-integrated education.

Empowering Learning Experience

The Art of Using Art

Curriculum and Programs
The traditional educational model of passively learning facts and reciting them out of context is no longer sufficient to prepare students for a life of learning and success. RWSAS’s teaching philosophy combines strategies proven to benefit children and improve learning, including learning by doing, artful thinking, and excellence in teaching.
Learning through the arts enlivens instruction, increases student involvement, and deepens both memory and meaning. The arts are infused throughout curricular areas to engage the whole child and provide for various methods of expression.
Our curriculum has 3 main components - The Core, Arts Integration and Immersive Exploration.

We believe that integrating dance, drama, music and visual art into the lives of students will enhance the learning of core subjects.
We believe in teaching to Multiple learning styles (Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic) in every lesson.
We believe that students, families, staff members and the community must partner to provide a learning experience that fulfills our mission and produces individuals who:
-
Inquire – think curiously
-
Imagine – think beyond
-
Innovate – think creatively
-
Inspire – influence excellence in a global society

We believe that arts integration into the curriculum creates academic excellence which in turn will produce critical thinkers who are academically proficient. We believe this curriculum will produce respectful, responsible, and resourceful individuals who contribute actively at school and in the global community.
